Republicans and Democrats

Senator Hatch - I agree with your views on the budget. I hate seeing the expansion of the federal government - especially to backing car warranties and bailing out failing companies. I do not like, however, your constant vilifying the democrats as a whole, and promoting republicans as a whole. I rarely hear and interview with you where this is not the case. This whole decade has been one of federal expansion, the creation of new offices, massive bail-outs.

What I want to hear is for someone to pull the alarm bell and shout "we need to return to the principles of government the founding fathers envisioned." Instead, all I hear is, "They did it!"

In addition to or part of returning to the principles and fundamentals of government that the founders envisioned, I would include one other suggestion: TERM LIMITS. I think you should sponsor this legislation with Senators Kennedy and Byrd. None of the founding fathers envisioned federal representation a career. Why? Why did Washington step down after two terms? Why, after Roosevelt, did we officially limit the office of President to just two terms? Why doesn't that same logic apply to all federal elected officials? It certainly should.
